Data that Quantifies Prescriber Intent

To help quantify prescriber intent, Forsyth’s RxPA Data Metrics measure the following:

  • Attempted prior authorizations (PAs)
  • PA decisions (approvals/denials/appeals)
  • Detailed Denial Reasons (i.e., step therapy, clinical criteria not met)
  • Post-Approval PA insights (i.e., went on brand, reversed at pharmacy, filled alternate brand)
  • Competitor RxPA insights (same insights available as your own brand)

Based on these metrics, our RxPA Data enables:

  • Identifying Prescriber Practice Patterns (measured by intent, not just adoption)
  • Sales: Identify prescribers prescribing for the wrong patients targets to educate
  • Brand: Quantify the impact of campaigns on prescribers' brand interest
  • Market Access: Use data to better qualify formulary negotiation strategies
  • Field Reimbursement: Target in real time the access barriers impacting pull-through

RxPA Data Application: Product Life Cycle

Within the product life cycle, there are pre-launch, early launch, established market, and new competitor stages.

  1. In the pre-launch stage, we consider competitors with high or low denial rates and develop a negotiation strategy for appropriate formulary status, to help provide an “easy button” for access.
  2. In the early launch stage, we gain visibility into prescribing intent for your brand before a claim exists and learn from offices with successful practice patterns to quickly support those who are struggling. Early adopters who routinely get denied in the first 3 months are more likely to stop prescribing your brand. Knowing who they are quickly is pivotal, as claims won't disclose whether they are struggling to get access.
  3. Once the market is established, we identify why prescribers are denied for your brand and competitors. This allows you to determine if you can capitalize on their areas of weakness and if your current prescribers are struggling with appropriate patient targeting or the PA administrative process.
  4. With regards to new competitors or new competitor indications, we quickly assess where your market share might be at risk, as PA attempts are the lead indicator that there is intent for a brand and can signal future shifts in market share.
